Chicken nuggets. Fussy eaters at home? These crunchy nuggets made from scratch is the way to go. Chicken breasts sliced into thin pieces are cooked in flavorful sauce, and then battered and deep fried until golden perfection. While the lip-smacking dipping sauce makes these golden goodies simply irresisitible, the classic addition of crispy fries is a must for unbelievable deliciousness.

Why I Love These Nuggets

I made this dish as an entrée for a party a few years ago, but then almost forgot about it. Needless to say, it was a real hit among my guests especially kids. But I omitted the sauce as I wasn’t sure whether my guests will like it or not.

I came across this recipe again while searching for a finger food recipe, and decided to give it a go once more, this time with the sauce. And the good news - both fried chicken and sauce tastes DELICIOUS!!!!

Key Ingredients In Chicken Nuggets

  • Chicken - I prefer chicken breasts cut into thin slices.
  • Soy sauce - To flavor the sauce and chicken.
  • Sweet chili sauce - Again, to flavor both sauce and chicken.
  • Flour - Key ingredient of batter.
  • Breadcrumbs - For the crunchy exterior.

How To Make Chicken Nuggets

Cook chicken - Place thinly sliced chicken in a little water flavored with ginger, garlic, soy sauce, sweet chili sauce and tomato sauce (ketchup). When the chicken is about half cooked, remove from the sauce. Dip these in a basic batter made with flour, egg and water. Then, roll in breadcrumbs and deep fry.

The dipping sauce - It’s basically the water in which the chicken is cooked. To thicken the sauce you can add a little cornstarch (corn flour) slurry, and boil to get a beautifully flavored dipping sauce.

French fries - Homemade or store bought fries is the way to go.
