Banana chips . A crunchy and addictive snack that can be made easily at home with raw plantains or large bananas. Simply slice plantains right into hot oil, add a touch of turmeric for the natural golden banana color, and wait until the chips crisp up. Make a huge batch, and munch on for weeks!

Why I Love These Crunchy Chips
The secret to making crispy banana chips lies in the type of banana used and the timing. These popular chips are made using thinly sliced raw plantain. And when I say “raw”, the color of skin should be very green. Otherwise, you will not get the desired result.
Key Ingredients In Banana Chips
- Plantains - Raw plantains cut into very thin, uniform slices.
- Ground turmeric - When mixed with water, it gives the golden yellow color to the crisps.
- Oil - Any veg oil for deep frying.
How To Make Banana Chips
The equipment - You will need a mandolin slicer for the perfect chips. For the chips to crisp up evenly, the rounds need to be of uniform thickness.
Fry the chips - Carefully hold the mandolin slicer over the pan of hot oil, and slice the plantain into the oil. This way, the slices won’t stick together. If you like the yellow hue, sprinkle a bit of turmeric water into the oil. Make sure you are careful while frying the chips as the oil may splatter.
