Here is my take on the old classic mushroom sauce.
When you plan to throw a steak on the barbecue next time, slice up some mushrooms as well to make this rich sauce. It’s worth the effort. You can find the whole recipe here.

Ingredients
- ▢ 4 - 6 button mushrooms sliced
- ▢ 1 medium red onion sliced
- ▢ 1 chicken or beef stock cube I used chicken cube
- ▢ 1 teaspoon plain flour
- ▢ 2 tablespoon red wine optional
- ▢ 1 cup water
- ▢ 2 tablespoon oil
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan, and fry onions and mushrooms.
- Add plain flour, and fry until the raw smell disappears.
- Now pour red wine, and then the stock cube along with black pepper. If the sauce is too thick, add a little water. Cook, covered, for about 10 – 15 minutes, or until the sauce thickens.
